What was meant to be a unusual vacation turned out to become our honeymoon. You know, when things happen they tend to happen fast and all at once. Here is a picture of Doris - you simply had to marry her!
We did pretty much the whole country. Starting in Tel Aviv we first turned north towards Haifa, then East towards the lake and the Golan heights, then along the West bank south, passing amazing Roman sites, Bethlehem to the Dead Sea. From there we went to Jerusalem and at the end relaxed at the red Sea.
We were lucky that year - peace and hope was in the air. 1995.
The South
At the end we did the beach thing. Doris even dared a guided dive. Unfortunately the first and only one to date.

Wherever you go and look - Jesus was there. Literally every few hundred meters has been the location of a biblical scene.

The North - Lake Genezareth

Jerusalem - inspired
This is a truely fascinating place. 3000 years of history, a holy place of 3 religions, full of pilgrims and devout people. It gets to you. We had some inetresting encounters with German monks, Palestians terrorists, hip Israelis and lots of worshippers. I do not know how it is there days - but we were lucky as it was a time of peace and much hope. Everybody was cheerful and open; might not be so much fun visiting it now.

Dead Sea - heavy stuff
You have to swim in this sea when you are around. Amazing feeling. And these super-radioactive mud sessions are quite something as well. Pretty dead though this area. The best experience I had was actually going for a swim one evening from Amman after a trade show. We arrived well into the night, it was pitch dark - except for the stars of course. Relaxing pure.
